Jay + Lisa

What a way to end 2015! I began the year with a New Year's Day wedding and ended the year with a New Year's Eve wedding. Several friends who knew I'd be photographing a New Year's Eve wedding asked, "Who gets married on New Year's Eve??" and I would reply "Only the most amazing couple in town!"

Jay & Lisa Pontius are hands-down some of the most fun people to be around! I knew I would enjoy this wedding and have an extremely fun way to end the year celebrating. I've known Jay since we attended Midlothian Middle School where Lisa also went (though I didn't know her at the time). Having reconnected and photographed Jay's proposal to Lisa in 2014, I could immediately tell from their personalities that I'd get along with everyone just fine!

We began the day getting ready at two different houses and finally met in the early afternoon at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Bon Air, VA. After the two tied the knot, we headed over to Brown's Island via trolley. Brown's Island was where Jay proposed, so to go back a year later and create more memories there was a sweet way to photograph their portraits as newlyweds. With the sun setting behind the clouds, we wrapped up and drove to the John Marshall Hotel to prepare for the reception which would last past midnight. DJ Big Bad Ben (djbigbadbenrocks.com) brought the Big Show with his amazing DJ performance that had guests dancing for hours on end! Flowers were provided by the always incredible Kristen with The Proper Petal (theproperpetal.com).

Enjoy!
